Davis McCoy Perkins

Mr. Perkins is a professional artist, firefighter and paramedic.

Since 1985 Davis has been with Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department (formerly South County Fire) in Belmont and San Carlos , California . Prior to joining BSCFD he was a smokejumper for thirteen summers, parachuting into forest fires with the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. During the off-season he attended the Pacific Northwest School of Art ( Port-land ) and the University of Oregon where he received his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts in 1978.

Before beginning his career as a smokejumper, Davis served as a Paratroop Sergeant, first with the Army's 82nd Airborne Division and later with the 12 Special Forces Group of the Army Reserve.

His first one man show was in 1983 at the Alaska State Museum . Later that year the Smithsonian Institution profiled his work in a one-man exhibit from which they selected three pieces for their permanent collection. Since 1988, the National Park Academy of the Arts has selected eight of his paintings in the annual “Top One Hundred” competition for publication in their yearly book; the highest number from any individual artist.
